About furbd
At the heart of our work is a simple idea. When the right technology reaches the right person, it can change what is possible.
How our work reaches the people who need it most
We work with 138 trusted distributors including charities, community organisations, councils and support services. These partners are embedded in their communities and understand who is most at risk of digital exclusion.
They help identify individuals and families who are struggling without access to technology, whether that is someone looking for work, a young person trying to keep up with education, or someone who feels cut off from essential services and connection.
Donated devices are refurbished and tested by our team. From there, technology is either distributed through our partners or sold through our shop to help fund our charitable work and reach even more people.
This approach means support is targeted, dignified and based on real need.
Why digital exclusion matters
Digital exclusion is not just about technology. It is about opportunity, independence and connection.
Around 1.5 million people in the UK are still offline, unable to access essential digital services
People without digital access are far more likely to be excluded from employment, education and support
As more services move online, those without access are increasingly left behind through no fault of their own
Without access to a device, people are locked out of everyday life. That gap continues to grow unless something changes.
A neurodivergent led team, doing things differently
At furbd, neurodiversity is part of how we work.
Much of our team is neurodivergent, and we build our work around different ways of thinking, focusing and problem solving. We create an environment where people can work in ways that suit them, take the time they need, and develop practical skills through hands on refurbishment.
This approach allows people to build confidence and experience while working with technology in a setting that understands sensory needs and individuality. It also means devices are refurbished with care, focus and attention to detail.
When people are supported to work in ways that suit them, everyone benefits.
Looking ahead
Everything we do is about removing barriers. Barriers to technology, to opportunity, and to meaningful work. By reusing technology, working with trusted partners, and creating inclusive employment pathways, we are helping ensure fewer people are left behind in a digital world. One device. One person. One opportunity at a time.
