Teesside University donates hundreds of iPads to support digital access in the Tees Valley

Recently, Teesside University donated hundreds of iPads to furbd, helping support people and communities across the Tees Valley who are facing barriers to digital access. Nearly 700 devices have already been donated, with more planned to follow.

These iPads are being passed on through local organisations and community groups to households that need them. For many people, having access to a tablet can make everyday life easier, from staying in touch with family to accessing services, learning opportunities and support.

Some of the devices are being used by charities and community groups to help with form filling, data collection and supporting people during events and home visits. Others are supporting children and young people through after school activities, helping them learn, connect and take part.

Keeping these devices in use is also an important part of reducing electronic waste. Technology that still has life left in it can continue to be useful rather than sitting unused or being discarded too early.

We are grateful to Teesside University for choosing to support digital access locally and helping good technology reach further.
